Much of the beauty surrounding us celebrates youth, perfection and the beginning of life. Over time, I found myself drawn to what happens afterwards—the quiet beauty that emerges as colour fades, forms soften and decay begins. It is the same quiet atmosphere that settles over the landscape after the summer harvest, as nature gently prepares for autumn.
Working underwater transforms the familiar. Water bends and diffuses light, revealing structures that remain hidden above the surface. It slows the eye and invites closer observation.
Over time, I realised these photographs are about more than beauty. They are about transformation. In nature, nothing truly disappears; every ending becomes the beginning of something else. Growth, decline and renewal are all part of the same continuous cycle. Perhaps beauty is not something we lose, but something we learn to see differently.
What began as an exploration of nature gradually became an exploration of change.
I never set out to photograph decay. Yet perhaps that is what continues to draw me to it. In a world where we often overlook what is fading, these photographs invite us to pause and look again.
They are a gentle reminder that beauty does not disappear with time.
It changes.
